Are there any expectations?

In all honesty, yes and no, we expect that as a teacher electing to attend a Smile Teachers Retreat you are committed to bettering yourself. A lot of hard work and planning goes into making our retreats transformational and Shaun is very big on providing a fabulous space for you to learn, love, heal and grow. He expects your best self to show up and will do everything in his power to support you and make you smile. So please come prepared to work on you, but also come prepared to let you hair down and have fun!

What are the different room options?

There are 3 different room options (subject to availability):

Is the professional development linked to professional learning and teaching standards?

Yes, all of our course content is linked back to the AITSL standards and we are always working with each state or territory to ensure we are providing high quality professional development that is advancing teachers careers.

What do I do once I have paid in full?

Once you have paid for your retreat we will send you a receipt and instructions for the remainder of your package. We require you to have paid in full 10 days before start date. If you need to make other arrangements to do this please contact us and agree on a payment plan.

When will I find out my room details and check-in details for the retreat?

Hold tight! In the weeks leading up to the retreat we will provide you with a detailed itinerary, that includes further information about check-in times, room allocations, hotel information etc.

Do we have to do all the sessions on the retreat?

This is not the case at all. None of the activities scheduled in the program are compulsory and we aim for you to pick and choose what options you enjoy: from teachers who want to train or walk to those who will enjoy yoga and surfing. You can be as busy or as relaxed as you like. Some of the self-development workshops are compulsory because ultimately, you are coming to work on yourself.

What are the meals like?

To be completely honest with you- incredible! Chef uses the finest ingredients sourced locally and organically where possible. You will find everything including fresh salads, lean meats, seafood, rice, spices and amazing flavors, smoothie bowls, health tonics, and if you are wanting something naughty they have some fabulous burgers and western style meals just up the road.

Can we enjoy some cheeky cocktails or wine at night? Can we go out for dinner or drinks?

Absolutely! A Smile Teachers retreat is about rewarding teachers for all their hard work. We encourage teachers to socialise and get to know each other. We advise you not to go overboard so that you don’t miss any valuable learning experiences the next day though. We will be having a group lunch or dinner at a local restaurant at some point, pending restrictions.

I’m thinking of coming by myself. Is that ok?

Of course it is! Many people come by themselves, in fact more than half. Whether you are single or in a group you are still going to have the best time.

Can I do my own thing during the day or do I have to stick to the schedule?

The one thing you will have a lot on the retreat is OPTIONS! You can do whatever you like with most of our professional development and wellbeing sessions being in the morning we try to allow time for you to digest and reconnect in the afternoons.

How do I get to the WA Retreat?

Please make your own way to our retreat venue. We will have a shuttle bus available during the retreat for any of our tours or activities.
